Speech Pathologist

At Malaika we will connect you with qualified speech pathologists that will  study, diagnose and treat communication disorders; including difficulty speaking, listening, understanding, reading, writing, social skills, stuttering and using your voice. 

They work with people who have difficulty communicating due to a variety of reasons including but not limited to; developmental delays, stroke, brain injuries, learning disability, intellectual disability, cerebral palsy, dementia, and hearing loss. Our therapists also assist with other issues that can affect speech and language, for instance, people who experience difficultty swallowing food and they also assist with helping you to drink safely.

Nursing Team

Our nursing staff is highly experienced with giving you the confidence that you need to  manage your personal and medical care. They provide your family with a peace of mind as you are safe and well at home.  The services our nurses offer include but  not limited to the use of the latest technologies including hoist management and usage, assisted technologies and general maintenance and medial support.

Our aim is to ensure you remain healthy and safe at home for as long as you want. Whether it is caring for you to support your 24/7 high care needs or giving you peace of mind with our daily care support which includes support with medication or general personal needs. We will help you continue to remain in control while living independently in your own home.

Counselling

At Malaika we will connect you with qualified counselors that will help you identify goals and potential solutions to problems that may cause emotional turmoil. Our counselors can seek to improve your communication and coping skills, strengthen your self-esteem and promote behavior change and enhance your mental health.

Our counselors are able to work with, individuals, couples, families and groups.

  • Individual counseling is a personal opportunity to receive support and experience growth during challenging times in life or if you would just like to have a chat. 

  • Every couple experiences ups and downs in their relationship and counseling can be very beneficial in coping and triumphing. 

  • Family counseling is often sought due to a life change or stress negatively affecting one or all areas of family closeness or family structure. 

  • Group counseling may be for you! The group setting allows one to find out that they are not alone in their type of life challenge.

Physiotherapist

Our physiotherapists work with people of all ages who need support to improve their strength, movement and flexibility so they can achieve their goals. Our professional physiotherapists often work as part of a therapy team to provide the support that meets your needs and those of your family members and carers.

Our physiotherapist will conduct an assessment to look at how someone moves around their home and community in their daily lives. This includes assessments of how their body functions, such as the strength of muscles, joint movement, endurance or fitness, and balance.

  • Our physiotherapist team can make recommendations that would make moving around your home and in the local community easier.

  • Malaika physiotherapist team will also prescribe mobility equipment to assist you with standing, walking, or moving around more easily and independently within your home, school, or local community. This can be anything from a walking stick to a highly specialized walking frame or wheelchair.

  • Our physios also tailor exercises to help improve your mobility, skill level, muscle strength, flexibility, fitness to help you achieve your goals.

Occupation Therapist

Our occupational therapists help you manage everyday occupations to establish independence and improve your quality of life. We have a wide range of professionals working in the community and hospital settings.  Our OTs provide assistance by developing programs of support within a client’s personal network as well as prescribing aids and environmental modifications.

At Malaika family Care our general aim of occupational therapy treatment is to improve our client's quality of life by developing techniques and strategies to assist with the tasks that they engage in during their everyday life. Every clients has different wants, needs, goals, and expectations when it comes to occupational therapy. Therefore,  our occupational therapists are trained to take the client's whole story and perspective into account when they are developing treatment programs.
